VIJAYAWADA: ESSEL Infra group has begun a study on how to help the Vijayawada Municipal Corporation (VMC) supply water 24 x 7 in some localities without having to impose additional water charges.
The ESSEL Infra group representatives felt that the project might work in Vijayawada because of good water sources it has. They gave a presentation to municipal commissioner G Veerapandian in which they discussed how similar projects are being grounded in Aurangabad and Bhagalpur.
The ESSEL Infra team, led by Ravi Bhatnagar, explained to the commissioner that in their preliminary study they found that the Vijayawada had a great advantage in the form of nature’s bounty as far as water supply is concerned. The team told him that after preliminary study, they would suggest replacement of water mains and then various aspects of the maintenance of new water mains.
The team told the commissioner and the VMC engineering officials that they would send a technical team soon to make an assessment of how the project could be grounded.
The municipal commissioner wanted the ESSEL Infra group to ground a pilot project for supply of water round-the-clock to at least 20,000 homes and study whether Ramalingeswaranagar 10 mgd water treatment plant could be brought into operation with as little expenditure as possible.
