Online Trading for Farm Produce Soon

ELURU:The state government will implement online trading system in 10 agricultural marketing committees in the first phase, under its new agricultural products marketing policy.

Disclosing this at an awareness meeting to members of the Janmabhoomi committee on e-Trading at Agriculture Marketing Committee meeting hall here Wednesday, Women and Child Welfare minister Peethala Sujatha said that in the first phase the online trading would be implemented in Eluru, Hindupur, Kalyana Durgam, Kurnool, Adoni, Emmiganur, Kadapa, Guntur, Duggirala and Anakapalli markets. She said the agriculture produce of the farmers could be sold online through electronic platform to get reasonable profit.She opined that through online, there might be competition for purchase of produce and the farmers would get their expected price. She exhorted the farmers to grade their produces before transporting to the yards.

The minister said that in Eluru Agriculture Market Yard the lemon sales and purchase were currently done through open auction. From now, it will be done through e-bidding.

 Under this system, every farmer’s address, mobile number, bank account with IFS code will be uploaded online and the price they received will be intimated trough Short Message Service (SMS).

If the farmer agrees for the price for which he got SMS, the produce will be sold and the sale proceeds will be credited directly to farmers’ account.

Eluru MLA Badeti Kota Ramarao (Bujji) said that the online marketing system would benefit the farmers. However, in regard to sale of fresh produce like lemon measures had to be taken to benefit the farmers.

Eluru Marketing Committee chairman Kurella Ram Prasad said that the marketing committee had established the WIFI system with 15 computers in the office for the online trading. He said that from September 26, an awareness programme on the system would be taken up for the farmers in the villages.

Marketing regional deputy director Sudhakar, assistant director Srinivasa Rao, committee secretary Adabala Saradarani and others participated. Earlier, the MLA inaugurated Online Trading wing.
