Maoists Release Brothers

VISAKHAPATNAM: The villagers of Karlapodar, Munchingput mandal heaved a hugh sigh of relief after left wing extremists Friday released the two brothers whom they had kidnapped Wednesday. Brothers Vantala Dhanujaya and Vantala Neelakantham were abducted by the Maoists Wednesday night suspecting them as police informers.

Around 30 Maoists barged into Dhanaunjaya’s house Wednesday night and kidnapped him and his brother. They were reportedly taken to some remote place near Andhra-Orissa Border (AOB) and were interrogated. Sources said that the Maoists released the duo because of their popularity among the tribals, and the Maoists reportedly feared losing the little faith the tribals and villagers had in them if they harmed the duo.
