AP government issues order to set up panel to monitor Metro Rail progress

VIJAYAWADA: The government on Thursday issued orders to constitute a high-powered committee along with special invitees for monitoring and overseeing the progress of the Metro Rail Project taken up by the Amaravati Metro Rail Corporation (AMRC).

While the Chief Secretary to the government will be the chairman, special chief secretaries of the Finance Department, Transport and Roads and Buildings Department, Municipal Administration and Urban Development Department, CRDA commissioner, Krishna District Collector, Vijayawada Municipal commissioner and Vijayawada police commissioner will be the members. The AMRC managing director will be the convener of the committee. 

Apart from the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation project director, any other official as and when required by the committee will be the special invitees, who will be called upon on the basis of the subject for discussion in the meetings.

The above committee will act as an institutional mechanism during the implementation of the project, resolving problems with regard to acquisition of land, diversion of utilities, shifting of structures falling related to project alignment, rehabilitation of project-affected persons etc.
