Four Held With 480 Kg Ganja

VISAKHAPATNAM : The Task Force police of Anakapalle recovered around 480 kg of ganja, and arrested four persons, who were trying to smuggle the hemp in a van near Chodavaram village of Visakhapatnam district on  Tuesday.

The arrested have been identified as P Naidu, V Srinivas, P Raju and Asghar. However, P Srinivas, the main accused, is at large. According to Task Force inspector KV Papinaidu, the smugglers had created a special rack under the back seat of the van to store the ganja. Acting on a tip-off, the police raided the vehicle and seized the contraband. Reportedly, the smugglers were heading to Tamil Nadu.

Sources said that the main accused, V Srinivas, is a ganja smuggler at Paderu and was arrested in 2014 by the Excise Task Force for the same. Police have booked cases and are investigating.
