VISAKHAPATNAM: WITH the Southwest monsoon becoming active over coastal Andhra Pradesh, heavy rains lashed the city on Wednesday. Though the people got drenched in the rain, they enjoyed the cool breeze and cloudy weather. Overflowing drains in the low-lying areas caused trouble to the pedestrians and motorists.
According to the Cyclone Warning Centre, “A low pressure area over Chhattisgarh and neighbourhood has become less marked. An upper air circulation is currently over West Central Bay off South Odisha and North Andhra Pradesh, which would further induce into a low pressure area, as a result the city will be receiving heavy rainfall in the next 1-2 days.” CWC officials also warned strong surface winds from the westerly direction along and off Coastal AP, alerting fishermen to be cautious.
