After PR Kandriga, Sachin to adopt two more villages

NELLORE: After two years, cricket icon and Rajya Sabha member Sachin Ramesh Tendulkar visited Puttam Rajuvari Kandriga under Gudur Rural mandal which he had adopted under Sansaad Adarsh Gram Yojana here on Wednesday.

He inaugurated the community hall building worth Rs 1.15 crore and interacted with the officials on implementation of Swachh Bharat initiatives. He also discussed about other development activities at a programme organised in the village.

Sachin also declared the village as "Open defecation free" in the interactive session. The cricket legend also distributed cricket bats and sports kits to children at the newly constructed playground on the occasion of completion of Phase I of the development works.

“We are now taking up works under first phase. Second phase works will also be taken up in Nernuru and Gollapalli. I am adopting those two villages too,” Sachin announced.

Sachin had adopted the village and contributed Rs 2.79 crore in PR Kandriga for developmental activities in the village. The district administration had provided an additional funding of Rs 3.20 crore for taking up various works within the village.

“The village achieved good progress during the last two years with the support from officials and you, people in the village. Now, India needs Swachh and Swastha Bharat and your village will be role model for it. You will be happy and healthy with all these infrastructures,” said Sachin Tendulkar interacting with the villagers.

He handed over a grant of Rs 90 lakh as part of total requirement of Rs 3.05 crore for roads, drinking water, drainage and electricity infrastructure. He handed over job recruitment documents to youth, who were recently selected at the Job Mela organised in the region.
