HMR Keen on Steel Bridge at Oliphant

Metro Rail to request SCR for temporary leasing of vacant railway land for stocking the steel bridge components

HYDERABAD: Hyderabad Metro Rail officials, along with senior engineers of L&T Metro Rail (Hyderabad), inspected the work on the Chilakalguda-Begumpet stretch of Corridor-III (Nagole-Raidurg) on Monday.

Satisfied with the drawings and safety arrangements for the Oliphant metro rail bridge erection, HMR managing director NVS Reddy advised HMR chief engineer (railways) Munna Kumar to pursue with South Central Railway authorities for temporary leasing of the one-acre vacant railway land at Chilkalguda to HMR for stocking the metro rail steel bridge components, which were   manufactured at Noida in UP which will enable the bridge work to commence.

At the Secunderabad railway station, Reddy discussed inter-modal connectivity with railway and RTC officers and decided on the location of the landing points of Secunderabad (East) metro station between the Secunderabad railway reservation complex and Rathifile city bus station. It was felt that easy connectivity can be established for passengers between Secunderabad railway station, city bus station and Secunderabad (East) metro rail station.

He advised L&TMRHL engineers to build a skywalk to connect the Secunderabad (East) metro station at Hotel Ramakrishna to the Secunderabad railway station, railway reservation complex and Rathifile city bus station. The skywalk is to have an escalator, elevator and staircase.

After inspection of the site and the drawings of entry and exit points at Paradise, Rasoolpura and Prakash Nagar metro stations, Reddy finalised their location points to maximise safety and convenience of metro passengers and pedestrians as well as connectivity to parking spaces.

He  advised L&TMRHL engineers to minimise barricading and expedite the works for facilitating better traffic management on this busy road.

Later, he inspected the rail overbridge (ROB) work at Begumpet. He requested postal department authorities to spare a part of the open space of the Begumpet post office to accommodate a metro pillar and viaduct.

L&TMRHL project director MP Naidu, HMRL chief engineer Md.Ziauddin and other officers formed part of the inspection team.
