Bakery owner stabbed to death

SRIKAKULAM: A bakery owner was stabbed to death by an unidenitified person, at Potti Sreeramulu Junction near the Old Bus Stand here on Monday late evening.

Srikakulam I-Town CI Appala Naidu said the deceased has been identified as Gudla Venkata Ramana Murthy (55), owner of Nutan Sweets shop near the Old Bus Stand. Ramana Murthy was preparing to close his shop in the late evening, when an unknown person barged into the shop and stabbed him in his stomach.

A wounded Ramana Murthy managed to come out of the shop and shout for help. Before fellow shopkeepers could come to his rescue, the attacker fled. Ramana Murthy was rushed to the RIMS hospital where the doctors declared him brought dead. Ramana Murthy, a native of Budumuru village of Laveru mandal, had shifted his family to Srikakulam many years ago and had been running the shop since then. Police registered a case.
