VISAKHAPATNAM: A day after the death of Jabardasth-fame ‘Potti’ Ramesh’s wife Tripurambika at Srinagar, the Gajuwaka police on Wednesday arrested two family members of the comedy artiste and booked dowry harassment case against them. The two accused have been identified as Ch Mahalakshmi, the sister of Ramesh and her husband Ch Mallikarjuna Rao.

According to Gajuwaka inspector Immaneul Raju, since marriage the duo had been harassing Tripurambika mentally demanding dowry. The  inspector also said that the couple also used to humiliate Tripurambika for silly reasons for which she was depressed. After arrest, the duo were sent for judicial remand by the Gajuwaka police. “We would further enquire if  Ramesh and his parents had any role in the case. If it is proved, we would take action against them also,” said Immaneul Raju.

Parents and kin of Tripurambika alleged that their daughter was mentally harassed by in-laws as she couldn’t be pregnant yet. It may be recalled that Tripurambika was married to Potti Ramesh in Dec 2015. On Dec 19 evening, the woman reportedly committed suicide by hanging herself to a fan.
