VISAKHAPATNAM: The city traffic police have made elaborate plans to manage the traffic and crowd management on February 7 when the main public event, the International city parade, will be hosted at the RK Beach. Private vehicles and auto-rickshaws have been prohibited in several areas in the city to avoid traffic congestion.
As per the plan released by the traffic department, no private vehicles be allowed without valid pass beyond the AVN College Down, KGH opposite junction, Dandu Bazar, ZP junction, Pandimetta junction, central revenue quarters, Seven Hills, Circuit House junction, Patel junction, Siripuram junction, Dutt Island, Balajinagar, Mental Hospital junction, Lawson’s Bay Colony (Kurupam Towers), roads connecting the Beach Road from East Point Colony.
The restrictions will be applicable from 2 pm to 10 pm on February 7. The police also request the Beach Road residents and the residents of Daspalla Hills, Pandurangapuram, Kirlampudi Layout and Ocean View Layout to reach their residences before 2 pm on the day.
The parking places allotted for the event include East Point Colony, AU Engineering College grounds, AU South Campus (football ground), AMC hostel, AMC Doctors Colony and zilla parishad. People who plan to reach the venue via the East Point Colony should travel via MVP Colony, AS Raja College grounds and Vasapuvanipalem can park their vehicles at parking slots allotted at East Point Colony and then reach the venue by foot.
Public can come on vehicles to the AU Engineering College grounds from Maddilapalem arch gate and park their vehicles at AU New Exhibition grounds and take RTC shuttle service buses at the ground to the Mental Hospital junction via Polamamba temple.
The public can also come via the School of Economics gate and park their vehicles at AU south campus near the football ground and then go by foot.
People can also come along the Seven Hills Hospital, Court Junction or can also come via Gollapalem junction and Prakashraopeta to reach the AMC Doctors Colony parking place.
To reach ZP office parking place, people are asked to come via Jagadamba junction, Bonds Tailors junction, Dandu Bazar and Irrigation SE office.
