BCs Go On Indefinite Fast against Kapu Reservation

GUNTUR: Resenting the efforts of the government to accord Backward Classes (BC) status to Kapu community, Andhra Pradesh BC Welfare Association state working president A Varaprasad Yadav along with state BC women federation chairman V Varalakshmi and district BC student association president Simhadri Ashok launched an indefinite hunger strike here on Saturday.

Speaking on the occasion, Varaprasad alleged that both the Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu and the Leader of Opposition YS Jaganmohan Reddy are making attempts to do injustice to the BCs by supporting Kapu demand for BC status.

Finding fault with BC ministers Yenamala Ramakrishnudu, KE Krishnamurthy, K Ravindra and K Atchhannaidu for remaining mute spectators despite the government favouring BC reservations to Kapu community, he demanded the ministers to protect the interest of BCs by tendering resignations from the cabinet.

Demanding that the government withdraw the decision, he said they will continue the fast  until they get a clear-assurance from the Government.
