'Exempt Krishna Dist Villages from Green Zone'

VIJAYAWADA: An all-party committee has warned the State government against any delay in exempting villages in Krishna district from Green Zone in the Capital Region Development Authority (CRDA) plans.

Farmers of villages in Mylavaram and G Konduru mandals staged a dharna at CRDA office, here on Monday, demanding that their villages be exempted from the proposed green zone. Speaking on the occasion, CPM CRDA unit convenor Ch Babu Rao said that the government should take action on their demands  before February 29 or it would be forced to lay siege to the CRDA office.

He said that no development was taking place in 15 lakh acres in CRDA region after the government had declared the area as Agriculture Protection Zone and alleged that this was done in the interest of foreign companies and investors in the new capital and not the local farmers.
