VIJAYAWADA: CPM state secretary P Madhu on Friday demanded the reconstitution of the AP State SC, ST Commission without any delay.
In a statement here on Friday, he said that in absence of the commission, victims of caste prejudice have nowhere to go. Attacks on dalits and tribals have been on the rise of late and in these circumstances, constitution of the commission was all the more important.
He said that since there is no commission, the police is not registering cases based on caste based atrocities. It is deplorable that since 2007, the commission has remained unconstitued, he added.
As the commission has neither a chairman nor members since last several years, the state government should address the issue immediately, Madhu added.
