Glitter Marks RINL Formation Day Celebrations

VISAKHAPATNAM: The  formation day celebrations of Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Limited (RINL), the corporate entity of Visakhapatnam Steel Plant, got off to a glittering start here on Thursday. The management organised a rally, cricket match, medical camp and colourful cultural programmes to mark the occasion.

In the evening session, the cultural programmes were organised at Trishna grounds in the township. Thousands of employees and their family members thronged the venue. Addressing the gathering, RINL chairman-cum-managing director P Madhusudan asked the employees to focus more on enhanced volume of operation, techno-economic parameters, constant research and development interventions, safe practices with utmost importance to cost optimisation and revenue maximisation.

He observed that the present day business environment was extremely unstable with rapid changes in the industrial landscape. He stressed the need to devise quick strategies to cope with these challenges pro-actively, to remain competitive and emerge successful. He said that there was a greater need to enhance competitiveness, through technical expertise and to pioneer new markets to realise sustainable growth. It was the need of the hour to develop new growth engines, through innovative thinking and pro-actively taking new challenges for better possibilities, Madhusudan said.

The CMD presented Jawaharlal Nehru awards to 72 employees, both executives and non-executives, for their outstanding performance in their work areas.

The ECO awards were also given away by the CMD to the departments which showed environment and energy-friendly initiatives to mark the occasion.

The colourful cultural programmes were organised by Corporate Communications department in association with Visakha Steel Cultural Association.

Exhibition

The Corporate Communications department in association with Ukkunagaram schools put up a pavilion with various stalls. The Energy Management and the Environment Management departments of the VSP displayed various monitors and gadgets for creating awareness among the public about energy conservation. Corporate Communication department showcased RINL activities through a photo exhibition.

Earlier in the morning, a bicycle rally was flagged off by the CMD. Hundreds of students participated in the rally. To mark the occasion, the CMD, the directors of RINL, schoolchildren and CISF personnel planted 5,000 saplings at various places in the steel township.

A medical camp was organised in Islampeta village. Later, the CMD and the directors participated in Swachh Bharat campaign in Islampeta School.

The CMD inaugurated a friendly cricket match between RINL and Vizag Journalists Forum (VJF) at Col CK Naidu Stadium at Ukkunagaram. Chasing a total 81 runs of the VJF, Madhusudan steered Vizag Steel to victory with a stylish and unbeaten knock of 33 runs. directors (Projects) PC Mohapatra, (Personnel) GBS Prasad,  (Operations) DN Rao and (Finance) TVS Krishna Kumar were present.
