Government to Pay Salaries of GVMC Staff

VISAKHAPATNAM:  Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (VMC) Staff and Workers Union secretary general VV Vamana Rao said: “Like other municipalities in the state the GVMC staff will be paid according to the 010 salaries account.” The decision was announced by the state government during a budget meeting, he added.

With the 010 account, about Rs 253 crore will be left with GVMC every year, which can be used for developmental activities.

Speaking to mediapersons on Friday, Vamana Rao said that earlier, former chief minister of AP Late YS Rajasekhar Reddy had tried to make this amendment, but it was not implemented due to some reasons. 

However, following many agitations and protests demanding 010 account, Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu and Finance Minister Y Ramakrishnudu have agreed to implement the salary system. He also said that the GVMC had got a savings of Rs 360 crore in 2015, out of which Rs 256 crore will be for the permanent employees salaries and Rs 27.24 crore will be for the retired staff. He also stated that with the 010 account, the state government will benefit with about Rs 453 crore.
