Stone Laid for Cyclone Shelter in Andhra

SRIKAKULAM: Union Minister for Civil Aviation P Ashok Gajapathi Raju laid a foundation stone for a multi purpose cyclone shelter building in Allivalasa village of Ranasthalam mandal on Sunday. The building will be constructed at a cost of Rs 2.6 crore.

On the occasion, the minister said that as it was not possible to stop the natural disasters from occurring, the government had decided to save lives at least during the calamities. He announced that the maintenance of the building would be given to the Self-Help Groups and suggested utilising the building for weddings, meetings and other functions to get revenue for maintenance. Later, Ashok inaugurated a 100-bed hospital in Ranasthalam and a high school building at Laveru.

Former MLC G Haribabu, MPP G Vijayakumar and other officials were present.
