VISAKHAPATNAM: AS expected, the death of Paderu ASP K Sasi Kumar, who was found dead with a bullet injury in his chamber, was a case of suicide, police sources have said. However, the authorities are yet to admit it officially.

A note found near the body of Kumar is said to have suggested that he had committed suicide owing to stress. However, the officials have not revealed more about the letter saying that they only could say about the case only after the investigation was over. The CID team has retrieved the note and the clues team has scanned the area. The latter will submit a report after examining the handwriting, fingerprints on the note and pistol. The police are also waiting for the postmortem report.

A senior police officer, on condition of anonymity, told Express that the note was short and had no mention of the exact reasons that had abetted Kumar’s suicide.“The note only had one line on his (Kumar’s) professional life and a comment on his personal life. Kumar did not blame his superiors or family members for his extreme step in the note,” he said.

The CID team will analyse the call data records of the IPS officer, said another police officer.

But sources said that the ASP was blamed by his higher-ups for the landmine blast at Dhooliputtu in Munchingput area in which a CRPF jawan was injured and the death of a smuggler while escaping from Police in Paderu region.

Some officers said that the ASP was mentally depressed over official duty commitments in the agency.
