AP constable wins seven medals in world meet

Constable Mothukuri Tulasi Chaitanya bagged seven medals including a gold in the World Police and Fire Games held in Los Angeles.

VIJAYAWADA: A State police constable made the nation proud by participating in the World Police and Fire Games (WPFG) held at Los Angeles, United States of America. Constable Mothukuri Tulasi Chaitanya not only participated in the sports meet, but also bagged seven medals including a gold. 
Tulasi Chaitanya was recruited into the police department as a constable in 2012. He did exceptionally well in the national level police sports meets and was shortlisted for the international event which was held from August 6 to 17.


Notably, Chaitanya’s father, Mothukuri Ramakrishna Rao is also a constable and working in Vijayawada Special Branch. In the individual events, he won gold in the 200-meter medley in a record time of 2.26 minutes. He also won silver medals in the 3.2-km open water swimming, 800-meter freestyle (9.37 minutes) and 1500 meter freestyle (18.38 minutes) events. In the team events, he won silver in men’s 200-meter medley relay and 200-meter freestyle relay.Commissioner of Police D Gautam Sawang lauded Tulasi Chaitanya for his achievements and congratulated his parents.Tulasi Chaitanya was given a grand welcome at Gannavaram airport by DCP (Admin) J Brahma Reddy, ACP Rajeev Kumar, ACP Koteswara Rao and other police officials.
