Government adds 76 advanced life-support ambulances to fleet for safe delivery

The State government on Thursday launched 76 advanced life support ambulances equipped with 38 varieties of medical instruments to provide emergency medical services to the needy.

VIJAYAWADA: The State government on Thursday launched 76 advanced life support (ALS) ambulances equipped with 38 varieties of medical instruments to provide emergency medical services to the needy.

The existing medical ambulances only have a few medical equipment and the vehicles are being used for rushing the patients to the nearby hospital after administering first aid.

The ALS medical ambulance vehicles were flagged off by Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu at the Interim Government Complex at Velagapudi.

After enquiring the officials about advanced medical treatment equipment arranged inside the ambulances, the CM directed the officials to arrange telemedicine facility in the vehicles to provide the required emergency treatment to patients after consulting the doctor concerned.

The ALS ambulances will contain 38 varieties of equipment including defibrillator with monitor, neonatal warming blanket, ventilator-transport, portable oxygen cylinder with dial type flow meter, oxygen cylinder D type, gluco meter, EMC shears and kidney tray plastic.

Health minister Kamineni Srinivas said the State has 450 medical emergency ambulances and each of them is reserved to extend service to one lakh people. The ALS, developed with modern technology and medical equipment, will come in handy for rendering better services to the needy, he said.
