32 high-end motorbikes seized in Andhra, racers called for counselling

VISAKHAPATNAM: As many as 32 youngsters mostly college going students on Monday were called up for counselling by the city traffic police on the charges of taking part in bike races during the night of Sivarathri festival. The cops have seized total 32 high-end motorbikes. Huge fines are going to be imposed.

According to ADCP (Traffic)K Mahendra Pattadu, the youth have been involved in bike racing on Shivarathri night at several stretches from RK Beach to Bheemili. The police say that over 1,000 youth were involved in racing, however, they had caught just 32. While few bikers were caught red-handedly on the day itself, in the case of several others, the police noted down the registration numbers of the vehicles as they were at a good speed and summoned for counselling along with their parents on Monday.

Traffic police say fine of Rs 5,000 to Rs 10,000 can be charged on the youth for many violations including causing public inconvenience on the festival day. The police also warn that in future if the youth are caught once again, their driving licences will be cancelled.
