KAKINADA/VIJAYAWADA: Taking serious exception to the comments by the ruling TDP leaders that he had not sought permission for his ‘Chalo Amaravati’ for fear of not being able to walk the distance, Kapu leader Mudragada Padmanabham dared the leaders to resign if he successfully completes his padayatra.

Speaking to media persons at his house in Kirlampudi of East Godavari district on Friday, Mudragada said he would withdraw from the agitation demanding BC status for Kapus if he failed to walk the talk.

An emotionally-charged Mudragada said he had committed no wrong and hence was not afraid to move freely. Accusing the government of obstructing his peaceful protest by using the police force, he dared Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu to put him in jail. He went as far as to say that Naidu could hang him if he had done any wrong. “I am not afraid. I am ready for any sacrifice,” he said.

Reminding that it had been three and half years since the Telugu Desam Party formed the government and more than a year since the Manjunath Commission was constituted, the Kapu leader wondered how much longer it would take for his community to finally get the promised BC reservation. He said over the period Naidu had done nothing but say the commission would shortly submit a report. He reiterated that he would continue to strive for his community’s future and would not hesitate to make any sacrifice.
