BJP urges Telangana govt to appoint special officer for VR College

BJP State official spokesperson K Anjaneya Reddy has urged the State government to appoint a special officer for VR College in Nellore as per the High Court orders.

VIJAYAWADA: BJP state official spokesperson K Anjaneya Reddy has urged the state government to appoint a special officer for VR College in Nellore as per the High Court orders.

Addressing a press conference here on Friday, Anjaneya Reddy said that in view of the huge assets to the tune of over Rs 600 crore of VR College and the court had dismissed the college committee, the government should immediately appoint a special officer to run the institution.

The High Court had dismissed the governing body of VR College led by Anam brothers -- Ramnarayna Reddy and Vivekananda Reddy.

The court dismissed the committee on March 6 and directed the state government to appoint a special officer to administer the institutions under the college, Reddy said.

The court's ruling came on a petition filed by ABVP, the students' wing of the BJP, against the VR College committee.

"Anam Ramanarayana Reddy is the president while Anam Vivekananda Reddy is the secretary of the dismissed committee. According to our information, the committee is trying to get a stay order and some of the people may try to encroach the prime lands of the college. The BJP is demanding the government to appoint a special officer for the college," Reddy said.

The issue was also brought to the notice of Union Minister M Venkaiah Naidu, an alumnus of VR College, he said.

As the college committee is controlled by Anam brothers, the state government should take action according to the court orders, the BJP leader said.

BJP senior leader P Dilip was also present.
