GUNTUR: Low-level culverts inundated due to heavy downpour for two hours in various parts of Guntur district on Sunday. Pedanandipadu, Achampet and Krosuru mandals registered heavy rain in the early hours of Sunday. Due to heavy rain, the low-level culverts overflowed at Pedakurapadu-Abbarajupalem, Amaravati-Balusupadu and Parasa -Peddamakkena areas.
The APSRTC buses between Sattenapalli-Amaravati were stranded due to the overflowing of Eddu Vagu and other streams. According to locals, the water stagnated for four hours after rain stopped in these areas. Villagers, who were going to other places from Pedanandipadu and Krosuru villages could not travel due to heavy rain.
Abburi Ramakrishna, a resident of Pedakurapadu said that the low-level culverts caused difficulties to cummuters during the rainy season. Even though the issue was taken to the notice of higher officials to construct bridges to overcome difficulties, there has been no response from them, he added.
