VISAKHAPATNAM: Kapu patriarch Mudragada Padmanabham has given December 6 ultimatum to the government for granting BC status to the community. Mudragada, who met Kapu leaders in the city on Sunday, said that the government would be responsible for the consequences, if the demand for BC status was not met by December 6.

“During his padayatra and again during the TDP election campaign, Chandrababu Naidu had promised that he would include Kapus in the BC list within six months of coming to power. Three years have passed since he was voted to power, but his promise remains unfulfilled,” Mudragada pointed out, while speaking to the media here on Sunday.

December 6 is observed as the death anniversary of BR Ambedkar and the Kapu leader said that is why he has set it as the deadline for the government for inclusion of Kapus in the BC list. “We are only demanding Chandrababu Naidu to honour his election promise,” he said, adding that he would not rest until justice was done to Kapus.

“There is no going back on the December 6 deadline,” he said. The Kapu leader wants the BC status for the economically backward in the community. “The rich need not be included. Only those who are economically backward should be included in the BC list,” he added.
