Amaravati Abhivruddhi Sangam formed

Subbaraju said they will take up each and every issue that impacts the people of the capital city and will take up agitations if needed to ensure justice.

VIJAYAWADA: With an objective to champion the cause of people of Vijayawada and the new capital city Amaravati, a new organisation - Amaravati Abhivruddhi Sangam (AAS) was formed here on Thursday.

Addressing the inaugural meeting of the organisation, former MLA K Subbaraju said AAS is an apolitical organisation and would strive for the comprehensive development of the capital region including Vijayawada.

“For years, though other cities and towns got developed, Vijayawada and its peripherals remained bereft of the fruits of development. Unfortunately, even after more than two years of bifurcation, the development of Vijayawada still remains a mirage,” he said, while pointing out at the Benz Circle Flyover which still remains on paper, even though it was proposed at a time when he was an MLA few years ago.

Subbaraju said they will take up each and every issue that impacts the people of the capital city and will take up agitations if needed to ensure justice. “All I want is the quality of life of people in the capital region being improved and their rights protected,” he said.

Veteran journalist Turlapaty Kutumba Rao opined that there is a need for such neutral organisations to fight on behalf of the people and for the development of Amaravati. Navaneetham Sambasiva Rao, a key member of AAS and Neelam Durga Rao explained the objective of the organisation.
