Death of Chodavaram woman: Husband among three arrested

The Chodavaram police on Friday arrested three persons in connection with the case.

VISAKHAPATNAM: Cracking the mystery behind the suspicious death of Chukka Mahalakshmi (35), whose body was found at an isolated place in completely charred state at Chodavaram on January 14, the Chodavaram police on Friday arrested three persons in connection with the case.

The arrested include the victim’s husband D Nagaraju, one of his friends G Ravi and a 17-year-old. According to sources, Nagaraju married Mahalakshmi around six years ago. He is survived by a four-year-old boy. Nagaraju always suspected his wife’s fidelity and engaged in heated arguments. Vexed, recently Mahalakshmi along with her son left Nagaraju and gone to her parents’ house at Gullepalle.

Developing grudge over a series of incidents, Nagaraju  decided to eliminate his wife. On January 14, Nagaraju took his friend’s car and gone to Gullepalle area and made a phone call to his wife on the pretext of festive shopping. Believing his words, Mahalakshmi boarded the car, where she was strangled to death by Nagaraju and his friend Ravi and another minor. Later, the trio set fire to the body.
