GITAM university admissions: More students opt for core subjects

On the second day of admission counselling in GITAM University, majority of the students preferred to join core branches like ECE, Mechanical, Civil, Biotechnology and Pharmacy as first choice.

VISAKHAPATNAM: On the second day of admission counselling in GITAM University, majority of the students preferred to join core branches like ECE, Mechanical, Civil, Biotechnology and Pharmacy as first choice. 


Out of the 2,000 admissions, 1,500 students chose core branches on Tuesday.  With the counselling continuing till May 18, the university is expecting to fill 3,000 core branch seats in the GITAM. 


“We are receiving huge response from states like Odisha, West Bengal, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, Maharashtra and Telangana, having a clear idea about their choices,” said GITAM University admissions director K Narendra. 


Addressing the students, GITAM vice-chancellor MS Prasada Rao said that the university was making plans to update the syllabus as per the industry requirements. Also to enhance teaching and learning capabilities, the university has tie-ups with IT companies like TCS with which they have signed MoUs. 


Some of the IT companies have also introduced remote internship programme and giving live projects to students to complete during their fourth year study in campus.
