Seven, including 4 kids, hurt in stray dog attacks

Dogs posing a threat to people’s safety in spite of GMC measures

GUNTUR/ELURU : Seven persons, including four children, were injured in Guntur and Eluru in stray dog attacks on Friday.  Stray dogs attacked an eight-year-old boy Talluri Koushik on his face, hands and other parts of the body at Pichukulapalem village in Savalyapuram mandal of Guntur district on Friday. The stray dogs attacked the class III student of Government School, while he was returning home after tuition. His father Talluri Seshaiah and the villagers rushed to the spot and rescued the boy from stray dog and shifted him to Vinukonda government hospital for treatment. But, due to seriousness of his wounds, the doctors suggested shifting him to Guntur GGH for better treatment, after administering first aid.

This is the third such incident in recent times in Guntur district. In the first incident at Adavitakkellapadu village, five-year-old Prem Kumar died on the spot and in the second at Macherla town, the boy survived the incident.In Eluru, six people, including three school-going children, were injured when a stray dog attacked them at KP Palem village in Mogalturu mandal on Friday. 

According to information, three ZP High School students of KP Palem in Mogalturu mandal were on their way to school in the village, when a stray dog attacked them near the school. The dog also attacked another three farmers. The injured were immediately shifted to primary health centre in the village for treatment. Villagers said the same dog might have attacked the students and farmers, as the latter tried to rescue the former. The villagers killed the mad dog immediately. The medical officials said that there is no need to worry about the dog bite as the victims have been administered the vaccine.
