Expedite underground drainage works in Guntur: Collector

The Collector said pipelines up to a length of 1,043 km will be laid in the city under the Rs 903 crore UGD project.

GUNTUR: District Collector and Special Officer K Sasidhar and GMC Commissioner Ch Anuradha inspected the Under Ground Drainage (UGD) works in different parts of the city on Friday.

During the inspection, he interacted with people to know their problems.  

Enquiring about the progress of UGD works, he expressed dissatisfaction over the slow place and directed the contractor complete the project as per schedule.

Sasidhar further said citizens are annoyed since the UGD works have not been carried out properly, leaving the roads uneven.

The Collector said pipelines up to a length of 1,043 km will be laid in the city under the Rs 903 crore UGD project. The contractor has so far laid 140 km length of pipelines against the target of 430 km, Sasidhar said, directing him to speed up the works.

The government will give permission to lay gravel roads wherever the laying of pipelines is completed. P

Presently, 80-90 km of gravel roads have been constructed as against the permitted 100 km.  Public and Health department SE N Srinivasa Rao, GMC  SE M Marianna, Shapoorji Pallonji Company Ltd project director Naresh Narasimhan and others accompanied him.
