‘SC verdict won’t affect DGP posting’

Deputy Chief Minister and Home Minister Nimmakayala Chinarajappa has said that the government will proceed as per the Act with regard to the appointment of Director General of Police (DGP).

RAJAMAHENDRAVARAM: Deputy Chief Minister and Home Minister Nimmakayala Chinarajappa has said that the government will proceed as per the Act with regard to the appointment of Director General of Police (DGP). He, however, added that the recent verdict of the Supreme Court on appointment of DGPs will not have any impact on the State.

Speaking to reporters after a meeting with senior officials of Home Department at the Interim Government Complex in Velagapudi on Thursday, Chinarajappa refuted the BJP’s claim on disturbance of law and order situation in the State. He alleged that the BJP along with YSRC and Jana Sena hatched another conspiracy by demanding President’s rule in the State.

DGP shuns VIP culture

DGP RP Thakur has instructed the traffic police not to restrict vehicular movement for facilitating passage of his convoy. A communique in this regard has been sent to commissioners of all cities and SPs of all districts. According to police officials, the top cop took the decision on Thursday after noticing that the vehicles were stopped when he was on his way to Vijayawada from the airport in Gannavaram. Meanwhile, his decision received appreciation from various sections of civil society and social media.
