Man drowns in Nagarjuna Sagar canal of Andhra Pradesh

Two friends visit to a canal near Reddigudem village at Vissannapet for recreation turned tragic when one of them drowned in a canal on Saturday.

VIJAYAWADA: Two friends visit to a canal near Reddigudem village at Vissannapet for recreation turned tragic when one of them drowned in a canal on Saturday. 

The deceased, Mekala Rajesh (19), and his friend Gutti Suresh (20) reportedly went to Nagarjuna Sagar left canal for a swim at around 1 pm, police said.

“When swimming, they noticed the water current was high and decided to  come out of the water. While Suresh managed to escape, Rajesh got swept away by the high water in the canal,” SI Anil Kumar said.
