VIJAYAWADA: Leader of the Opposition and YSRC president YS Jaganmohan Reddy will begin his tour of Krishna district from Vijayawada on the 136th day of his Praja Sankalpa Yatra at 8.30 a.m Saturday.
The YSRC chief, who has covered 1,750 km in 61 Assembly constituencies in the State so far, will resume his padayatra after a day’s break.

He will enter Vijayawada by walking across the Kanaka Durga Varadhi.
As announced earlier, former MLA Yalamanchili Ravi, along with his followers, will join YSRC in the presence of Jaganmohan Reddy at Kanaka Durga Varadhi. The former MLA, who was in  TDP until very recently, told mediapersons that he had quit the party as he felt neglected in it. He said though he had been with TDP since 2014, he did not get the respect and opportunities he deserved.

A few days ago, Vijayawada MP Kesineni Srinivas (Nani) took Yalamanchili Ravi to Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu in an attempt to  retain him in the party. However, the former MLA stuck to his earlier announcement that he would join YSRC. Political analysts say Ravi’s entry into YSRC may lead to some more influential leaders in the region joining the party.

On Saturday, Jaganmohan Reddy’s walkathon will pass through the bridge near Veterinary Hospital, Sikhamani Centre, Pushpa Hotel Centre, Sitarampuram Centre, Kotha Vanthena Centre, BRTS Road, Meesala Raja Rao Bridge, Yerrakatta, Chitti Nagar Centre and Chanumolu Venkata Rao flyover. Jagan will make an overnight stay on the premises of YV Rao Estates. Jaganmohan Reddy will address a public gathering at Chitti Nagar Centre where around 20,000 people are expected to turn up.

According to party sources, during his month-long 280-km (approx) journey in 13 Assembly constituencies across Krishna district, the Leader of the Opposition will focus on farmers’ issues, lack of progress in  Machilipatnam Port project, absence of efforts to complete Pulichintala project with 45 tmcft storage capacity and drinking water problem in upland areas.. Meanwhile, party cadre in Vijayawada city has geared up to ensure that YSRC chief is accorded a rousing reception on his arrival in the city. .
