VIJAYAWADA: Aiming to emerge victorious in the 2019 elections, Chief Minister and TDP supremo N Chandrababu Naidu made it clear on Wednesday that tickets would be given only to winning horses.

“We can achieve the desired goals only by winning elections. Tickets will be given to only those persons who have the capability to win elections,” Naidu said. Teleconferencing with MPs, MLAs, MLCs, constituency in-charges, Naidu said, “His government has succeeded in developing the State during the past four years despite all odds, including non-cooperation from the Centre. Despite cyclone Titli causing wide-spread destruction, we have succeeded in restoring the affected areas to normalcy within 11 days.”

Stating that his government could achieve up to 76 per cent of public satisfaction, he said party leaders should work hard for achieving more. The party utilises the strengths of the leaders as per requirement and they should fulfil the responsibilities given to them, he added. “We must aspire for the development of the State. One will get name and fame only by getting involved in development activities. It is high time for the party to play a crucial role at the national level. The Central government is collapsing all systems, including the CBI, for the past four years. The BJP is creating chaos by conducting Income Tax raids, challenging secularism and creating unrest in the society,’’ he said.

Directing the party leaders to speed up the membership enrolment drive in all villages from October 31, the Chief Minister wanted the party membership to cross one crore from the present 64 lakh in Andhra Pradesh.

He also wanted the leaders to be more active and secure the party’s win in the MLC election to be held for two Graduate and one Teachers constituencies.
