KAKINADA: The sleuths of CBI, the top brass of which is embroiled in a controversy leading to a major reshuffle in the premier investigating agency, conducted searches at the Hyderabad-based businessman Satish Kumar Sana’s residence in Kakinada and reportedly seized some documents. The CBI officials also conducted searches at the residences of some of the relatives of Satish in Kakinada, Samalkot and Peddapuram in East Godavari district, sources said.

It was based on Satish’s complaint that his statement was fabricated by CBI DSP Devender Kumar in Delhi that led to the present crisis in the investigating agency.
According to sources, Satish was involved in a corruption case related to meat exporter Moin Qureshi. Devender Kumar, who investigated the case, reportedly stated that the statement of Satish was recorded on September 26, 2018, the day on which Satish was not in Delhi.

Satish later claimed that he was asked to pay Rs 5 crore for CBI special director Rakesh Asthana’s intervention in the case. A probe was launched after which Devender Kumar was arrested. Satish is said to be the director of more than dozen companies and his name also cropped up in some sensational cases probed by the CBI.
