GUNTUR: The Income Tax (I-T) department officials conducted raids on industrialist and Telugu Desam Party (TDP) leader Kovelamudi Ravindra alias Kovelamudi Nani at different places of Guntur early Monday.
The I-T department officials formed three teams and conducted raids on his residence, gas agency office and petrol outlets in Lakshmipuram, Arundelpet and other areas of Guntur. After coming to know about the I-T raids, the TDP activists gathered at Nani’s residence and other business centres in Guntur.
The activists alleged that Centre carried raids on the TDP leaders to defame the image of the party, “but we will continue to fight the BJP”. K Ravindra said the I-T raids were routine searches and carried out not to single out a person or party.
