VIJAYAWADA: Andhra Pradesh Governor S Abdul Nazeer participated in the celebrations of the Sikkim Formation Day, organised under the ‘Ek Bharat Shresth Bharat’ programme at Darbar Hall in Raj Bhavan on Tuesday. Speaking on the occasion, the Governor said that this year marks the 48th anniversary of formation of the State, which is well-known for its biodiversity, alpine and subtropical climates.

“India’s largest mountain and the world’s third-highest peak, Kanchenjunga, lies within Sikkim and is having many beautiful lakes, out of which Gurudongmar and Chho Lamo, the source of Teesta River, are considered sacred and are revered by the people.”

“Sikkim is a unique blend of different religions, customs and traditions of different communities. It is also India’s first fully organic State and the use of spices and herbs is very limited as the people prefer use of organic raw material,” the Governor said.

“As Indians, we take pride in our country’s rich cultural history, heritage and diversity and such occasions brings people of different States together and aims to forge a strong relationship and promote mutual understanding between different States and Union Territories,” he added.
