ONGOLE: As many as 36,525 young people in Prakasam district have not registered in the latest voter list, prompting district election officials to intensify efforts to enrol these eligible but unregistered youth before the final voter draft for 2025 is published.
The voter registration process, part of the 2025 voter list preparation exercise, was conducted across the State from June 20 to September end at booth level, with Booth Level Officers (BLOs) overseeing the addition and deletion of voter names. The preliminary draft was published at all district polling stations on October 29, 2024. According to official data, the district’s voter total now stands at 18,26,227, including 57,796 individuals aged 18-19.
Of these, only 21,271 (36.80%) were registered in the October 29 draft, leaving 36,525 eligible young people unregistered for various reasons.
District Collector A Thameem Ansariya has directed the election wing to initiate Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) programmes in educational institutions to boost registration among the youth. SVEEP, a flagship initiative by the Election Commission of India, aims to promote voter education and participation.
People can check their enrollment status by visiting one of the district’s 2,183 polling booths, where BLOs are available with the latest voter lists. Individuals can confirm their enrollment, inquire about any changes or removals, and seek assistance.
