

VIJAYAWADA: Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan, Cinematography Minister Kandula Durgesh and YSRCP president YS Jagan Mohan Reddy expressed grief over the demise of veteran actress and Padma Shri awardee Sowcar Janaki, who passed away at the age of 94.
Condoling her death, Chandrababu Naidu said Sowcar Janaki’s demise was deeply shocking and described her contribution to Indian cinema as unforgettable. He recalled that she acted in more than 400 films and won several awards and accolades. Though she was no longer physically present, her memorable characters would remain etched in the hearts of audiences, he said.
Pawan Kalyan expressed condolences to the bereaved family and said he was saddened by the veteran actress’s death. He recalled that Janaki, who acted in around 400 films in Telugu, Tamil and Kannada, had successfully portrayed a wide range of roles as a heroine as well as a character artiste.
Kandula Durgesh described her death as an irreparable loss to the Telugu film industry. He recalled her long and distinguished career spanning several decades.
Jagan Mohan Reddy paid rich tributes to Janaki, recalling her seven-decade-long career and distinctive performances across multiple languages.
