BANGALORE: Four people were killed when a bus ran over them, near Ghati Subramanya Temple under Doddaballapura police station limits on Sunday morning. As many as 10 people were injured in the accident.

The private bus started moving down the road, immediately after the driver hopped into his seat. Police said that there was a brake failure and the driver was unable to control the vehicle. It ran over the people standing closeby.

The victims are Tejas (15) from Amruthahalli, Bangalore, Vijayalakshmi (52) and Anil Kumar (25) from Kodigehalli, Bangalore and Lalitha Bai (52) from Vyalikaval, Bangalore.

The victims had been to attend a wedding the previous night.

The others escaped with minor injuries. A case was registered with the Doddaballapura police, who are investigating the case

HASSAN: Six people breathed their last and nine sustained severe injuries when a tipper hit a stationary goods carrier on National Highway-48 near Madenur Gate, Shanthigrama hobli in Hassan taluk on Sunday.

The goods carrier was carrying 30 people, who were returning home after performing pooja at Meliyamma temple, Kundur mutt in Channarayapatna taluk.

The incident took place when the goods carrier was stationed on the roadside and the tipper coming from Channarayapatna rammed into it.

Other 15 people sustained minor injuries.

According to sources, the deceased have been identified as Honnegowda(65) his wife Muddamma(55), their grand children Gowtham (20), Arpita (12) and Sharathkumar(10), all residents of Bittagondanahalli in Hassan taluk.

32-year-old Puttamma died at the Hassan Institute of Medical Sciences where she was being treated for her injuries.

A case has been registered at Shanthigrama Police Station and investigations are on.

The injured have been admitted to the Hassan Institute of Medical Sciences.
