BELGAUM: As many as 67 recruits of Group No 5/09 of Maratha Light Infantry Regimental Centre completed their training and were attested at a function on Wednesday. The recruits will soon go to different parts of the country in the service of the nation.
Brig PJS Pannu reviewed the parade. The oath-taking ceremony was held in the presence of the national flag and regimental colours. The young soldiers swore to serve their motherland and protect its integrity even at the cost of their lives.
In his address, Brig Pannu reminded them of their regimental heritage and commitment to the country's security.
He expressed confidence that their training at the centre would stand them in good stead in all their future assignments.
Recruit Saurabh Gadakari commanded the parade with Parade Adjutant Major DK Yadav. The reviewing officer gave away various medals to recruits excelling in different spheres after the parade.
Kadam Subhash received the Naik Yashwant Ghadge Medal, Colonel RD Nikam Trophy and the prize for Best Recruit (overall best).
Sachin Mashekar bagged the Major SS Barar medal and trophy for Best in Physical Training.
For Best in Field Craft Training the Col NJ Nair Trophy was awarded to Sakeel Hukeri.
Saurabh Gadakari secured Honorary Captain Keshav Rao Talekar Medal and trophy for Best in Drill. Sheikh Khadir Ali was awarded Sucha Singh memorial cup and medal for Best in Outdoor Activities and also Naik Namdev Jadhav Victoria Cross medal and Firing Trophy for his performance in the field of firing.
