BANGALORE: The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) arrested former state Information commissioner Dr H N Krishna, in connection with his alleged involvement in irregularities in the selection of gazetted probationers between 1998 and 2004, when he was chairman of the Karnataka Public Service Commission (KPSC).

However, he was granted interim bail till October 12 by the Eighth Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court, after his advocate filed a bail application as the latter’s adopted daughter’s wedding was scheduled on October 10.

Krishna was arrested when he came to the CID headquarters on Friday to appear before the police for inquiry.

Though he was summoned by the police on October 4, he failed to appear.

As his involvement in the scam appeared to be prima facie to the investigating officers, he was arrested, the police said.

Krishna has been booked under sections 120B, 417, 418, 465, 471 and 506 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
