BANGALORE: After a five-month-long wait, over 130 children from IDL Blind School in Mathikere met Chief Minister D V Sadananda Gowda on Wednesday when he visited the school.

As he entered the hall, the faces of these children lit up and each row of students seated in the audience broke into applause, listened carefully to his footsteps as he walked towards the dais.

Some of them were moved to tears while shaking hands with Gowda, who was the first CM they met.

Inaugurating the Charity Halls at the school, Gowda said, “I have today experienced a very different world by meeting these kids. They are very talented and their efforts to lead their lives with confidence should be applauded,” he said.

The IDL Blind musical troupe exhibited its skills through instruments in CM’s honour.

“We are honoured by the CM’s presence at our school and. He sat with the children and enjoyed the munchies and snacks that were distributed to the them. This is a great move towards giving these visually challenged kids the much-needed respect and equality,” said founder and executive trustee of IDL Foundation P K Paul.

Gowda earlier donated  `1,01,500 to the school.
