BANGALORE: Is the timing of former CM B S Yeddyurappa’s revolt a well thought-out plan? According to sources in the BJP, Yeddyurappa and his supporters chalked out their plan so carefully that the party high command is left with no option but to negotiate with the Lingayat leader on his demand of reinstatement as CM. The party has to finalise its nominees for the RS polls by Monday, the last day for filing of nominations. With its present strength of 121 MLAs, the party can win two seats and bargain for another one. Under normal circumstances, it would have been a smooth affair for the party to ensure victory of its two nominees. But now, the party high command is in a fix either to yield to Yeddyurappa’s arm-twisting tactics or face the “consequence”. Apart from the RS polls, the party has another challenge to save its government from falling. Since the Budget session is starting on March 20, the high command has to strike a “deal” with Yeddyurappa to bring him and his supporters to the session.
