MADIKERI: A worker from Alithopu Estate in Puliyeri village of Siddapura Gram Panchayath died after a wild elephant which attacked her on Wednesday inside the estate.Khathija(35) was rushed to district hospital but succumbed to her injuries . She is survived by her husband Abdulla and three children. RFO Siddapura Gopal and ACF Virajpet, Alexander rushed to the spot and shifted the patient to Madikeri. “A compensation of `5 lakh and `2.50lakh worth cheque will be issued to the kin of the deceased,” Alexander said. The villagers expressed anguish as the department failed to control the wild elephants menace in the area.
