Take back GO on education medium: GSS

Rashtrakavi G S Shivarudrappa (GSS) has urged Chief Minister D V Sadananda Gowda to withdraw the government order (GO) which allows students studying in 341 schools to select the medium of instruction.

In a letter addressed to the chief minister, he said he fully supports the ongoing stir against the GO. “The government should take measures to make the people aware on the difference between teaching English as a subject and teaching all the subjects in English. It is the duty of the government to ensure that all subjects are taught in the native language.”

“The order is against Kannada and it will see a degradation, if the order is implemented,” he observed and clarified that their protest “is not against teaching English as a subject.” He pointed out that according to  the Right to Education 2009 29(2F) column, children between 6 and 14 years should be given education in mother tongue.
