Doctor confirms child’s rape

Dr Shaibya Saldanha, chief faculty, Collaborative Child Response Unit Project, Enfold Trust, who conducted the preliminary test on the nearly four-year-old daughter of Suja Jones, wife of Pascal Mazurier, Deputy Head of Chancery in the Consulate of France, confirmed sexual abuse and rape on Sunday.

Dr Saldanha said, “There is no need for another test. Even if the DNA test is conducted, it is only for “clinching evidence”. Police need not wait to take action citing “diplomatic immunity” as reason. It would not be applicable in this case.”

Following a complaint by Suja that her daughter was sexually abused, Saldanha asked her to take the victim to Baptist Hospital. Dr Madhuri and Dr Nalini, gynaecologist, examined the baby and took vaginal and anal swabs for further tests.

“I examined my daughter on June 13 and found “redness” around her genital. When I asked her about it, she said her father — my husband — Pascal had hurt her. The swab tests conducted at Baptist Hospital showed the presence of sperm. They also found signs of forceful penetrative sexual assault in the vagina and anus. My husband had forceful sexual penetration with my daughter aged 3 years and 10 months and committed rape,” wrote Suja to the Embassy of France.
