BANGALORE: The state Cabinet which met here on Monday has turned down a clemency petition of psychopathic serial killer Umesh Reddy, who is facing the gallows after being found guilty in several rape, murder and robbery cases.
A Bangalore Fast Track Court passed the order, which was upheld by higher courts, including the Supreme Court.
Briefing the media on the Cabinet’s decisions which met here on Monday, Minister for Law and Parliamentary Affairs Suresh Kumar said that the Cabinet has decided to recommend to Governor H R Bharadwaj to reject the clemency petition submitted by Gowramma, Reddy’s mother.
This means that the stage is set for capital punishment to Reddy - a former constable who had given the slip to police four times. ;
