Burning of cars condemned

Catholic priests appealed to the authorities concerned on Monday to step up vigil and book the culprits who burnt cars belonging to two Christian families in the city.

According to Fr S D Joseph, PRO of the Diocese of Mysore, cars owned by Winston Philip in Vijayanagar and Anand Pinto of Mahadeswaranagar, were burnt on Sunday night. A car belonging to Antony of Vijayanagar was also burnt two weeks ago.

Fr Joseph said that the Christian community is convinced that it is an act of vandalism. “They are selectively targeting the our community. The authorities must step up vigil and book the culprits without further delay,” he urged.

Joseph said that a complaint by the affected families has been filed at the Vijayanagar Police Station.
