Three buried under cement bags

Three labourers were killed when cement bags fell on them while theywere sleeping near Chikka Kavalande village, about 14 km away from Nanjangud town, on Sunday. One labourer escaped miraculously.

According to Basavaraju, who escaped, all the four were sleeping in a tent surrounded by a wall of nearly 100 cement bags. Water breached the wall of cement bags due to heavy rain on Saturday night and the cement bags fell on the labourers at 4 am, killing them on the spot. They were engaged by contractor Ramegowda to construct a railway bridge near Chikka Kaulande village, and the work was scheduled to start on Sunday morning.
